Dr. Ratanshi MD MSc FRCSC is a Harvard-trained, board-certified Plastic Surgeon based in Surrey, British Columbia. His experience, calm demeanour, and thoughtful approach to addressing patient’s concerns are some of the reasons why so many women and men choose Dr. Ratanshi for cosmetic and reconstructive surgery.

Each surgical procedure is meticulously planned following a detailed in-person consultation with Dr. Ratanshi. He is passionate about finding an individualized solution for his patients. With a life-long interest in problem solving and applied sciences, Dr. Ratanshi completed his undergraduate degree at Queen’s University in Chemical Engineering (Kingston, Ontario). His graduate degree in bioengineering at the University of Calgary focused on applying stem cells for various regenerative applications, technology now at the forefront of many anti-aging treatments.
Dr. Ratanshi completed his Doctor of Medicine at the University of Calgary, and his Residency in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Manitoba, considered one of the busiest training programs in the country. As Chief Resident, Dr. Ratanshi sought out traveling internships with world experts across North America and Asia in advanced aesthetics and reconstruction.
Dr. Ratanshi is a highly respected Plastic Surgeon in the Lower Mainland. He is one of few Canadians with additional expertise in two subspecialties of Plastic Surgery. He was the first Canadian-trained Plastic Surgeon to complete a one year fellowship in the Craniofacial Aesthetics & Reconstructive Surgery Program at Harvard University (Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, MA). During this time, he also served as a Clinical Instructor in Surgery at Harvard Medical School. In the year prior, Dr. Ratanshi completed a one year fellowship in Microvascular Surgery and Cancer Reconstruction at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, a globally-renowned, high volume institution for advanced cancer care. As a former visiting surgeon scholar in South Korea and Japan, Dr. Ratanshi also brings an international lens to his patient’s care.
Dr. Ratanshi maintains a balance of aesthetic and reconstructive cases in his busy practice. His unique expertise affords him the capacity to offer his patients truly specialized head-to-toe care to address concerns involving the face, breast, or body. His input or involvement is frequently sought by surgical colleagues for common and difficult cases alike.

Having grown up in the Lower Mainland, Dr. Ratanshi was keen to return home to provide world-class care to patients in his community. He is passionate about delivering state-of-the-art techniques in a safe and proven manner to provide patients with an excellent result. Dr. Ratanshi is actively engaged in fostering access to advanced surgical care in Surrey through his work with the Surrey Memorial Hospital Foundation.
He is a Clinical Instructor in Surgery at the University of British Columbia and is devoted to ensuring competency and integrity in the next generation of surgeons.
Dr. Ratanshi is an active member of the local, national, and international Plastic Surgery community. He has been recognized with numerous awards for teaching and clinical research. He has published book chapters in multiple Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery textbooks, including Atlas of Operative Craniofacial Surgery, Essentials of Plastic Surgery, and Expertise in the Operating Room. He has an extensive publication record of articles in established Plastic Surgery journals, including Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, Plastic Surgery and Microsurgery. He is a member of numerous Plastic Surgery societies, and he lectures at and regularly attends national and international Plastic Surgery meetings and symposia. He continues to engage with expert faculty in the field across Canada, the United States, and around the world.
