Achieve a Sculpted, Toned Appearance for Your Arms

The appearance of your arms plays an important role in overall body confidence. Whether you've experienced weight loss, aging, or simply have concerns about the excess skin or stubborn fat in your upper arms, our Surrey brachioplasty — also known as an arm lift — can help you achieve the smooth, toned arms you desire.

What is an Arm Lift | Brachioplasty

Arm Lift | Brachoiplasty Surgery is a cosmetic surgical procedure designed to remove excess skin and fat from the upper arms. The goal of the surgery is to create a firmer, more youthful-looking arm contour by tightening the skin and reshaping the area between the elbow and the armpit.

Surgery provides long-lasting results, with most patients noticing an immediate and significant improvement in the appearance of their arms. Once your swelling subsides and your scars heal, you will enjoy smoother, firmer arms that enhance your overall body contour.

While the results are permanent, maintaining a stable weight and healthy lifestyle will help preserve your outcome. Scarring is inevitable, but your surgeon will place incisions in discreet areas to minimize visibility, and the scars typically fade over time.

Arm Lift | Brachioplasty Surgery Offers Several Benefits, Including:

  • Removal of Excess Skin and Fat: After significant weight loss or aging, excess skin can hang from the upper arms. Brachioplasty can smooth out this area and eliminate loose, sagging skin.
  • Enhanced Contour and Tone: By tightening the skin and reducing fatty tissue, brachioplasty creates a more toned and youthful arm appearance.
  • Boost in Confidence: With smoother, more sculpted arms, patients often feel more confident wearing sleeveless clothing or participating in physical activities.

Who is a Good Candidate for Arm Lift | Brachioplasty?

An Arm Lift is an excellent option for individuals who:

  • Have excess skin and fat in the upper arms that cannot be addressed through exercise or diet.
  • Are generally in good health and have realistic expectations about the results of the procedure.
  • Are committed to maintaining a stable weight after surgery, as significant weight fluctuations can affect the results.
  • Have balanced nutrition, including protein, iron, and vitamin supplementation where needed, if you have experienced significant weight loss through diet, exercise, medication, or bariatric surgery
  • Are non-smokers or willing to quit smoking before and after the procedure for optimal healing

Your Arm Lift | Brachioplasty Surgery

Arm appearance varies from person to person. During your consultation for your arm lift Surrey plastic surgeon, Dr. Imran Ratanshi, will review your specific concerns and tailor a treatment plan that works best for you. An arm lift is performed in a surgical facility under general anesthesia. A board-certified anesthesiologist will provide your anesthesia and will discuss your anesthesia plan with you the day of surgery. Once you are asleep, additional local freezing is routinely placed in all incisions to maximize comfort after surgery. Dr. Ratanshi will plan your incision along the inner arm (from the elbow to the armpit) or on the back of your arm. In some cases, a shorter incision if only a small amount of skin removal is needed.

Excess skin and fat will be removed, and the remaining tissue will be tightened to create a smoother, more sculpted appearance. Some patients may require liposuction to remove excess fat that is done in combination with a skin excision procedure. All incisions are closed in layers using self-dissolving stitches. Some patients may require a drain, depending on the amount of tissue removed. You may have surgical tapes on your incisions, along with bulky gauze and a supportive garment to support healing. Aftercare instructions and follow-up appointments will be provided by Dr. Ratanshi and his nurse the day of surgery.

Recovery & Aftercare

After your brachioplasty procedure, you can expect to experience some swelling, bruising, and mild discomfort. Dr. Ratanshi will provide you with aftercare instructions, which may include:

  • Wearing compression garments to help reduce swelling and support the healing process.
  • Limiting physical activity for a few weeks to allow your arms to heal.
  • Avoiding heavy lifting or strenuous exercise for 4-6 weeks.

Most patients can return to work within 1-2 weeks, depending on their work or individual recovery process, though more strenuous activities may need to be postponed for a longer period.

Follow-up appointments will be arranged at 2 week intervals to ensure proper healing and recovery. Dr. Ratanshi’s office is happy to schedule you for an earlier assessment if you have any concerns.
