Dr. Ratanshi does not accept referrals from alternative health practitioners, such as Naturopathic Doctors, Chiropractors, etc.

Dr. Ratanshi does see patients visiting BC out of province for emergent injury concerns on referral from a BC Emergency Department. Dr. Ratanshi does not offer Own-Tissue | Autologous Breast Reconstruction (DIEP procedure) to out of province patients.
For Canadians who require elective surgery in their home province and are unable to access this in timely fashion, such as breast reduction or carpal tunnel surgery, you may seek care outside of your province privately. These surgeries are not performed in publicly-funded British Columbia Hospitals. Similar to cosmetic surgery, these surgeries are performed in a private surgical facility accredited by the College of Physicians & Surgeons of British Columbia. Fees for your consultation and surgery are not billed to your home provincial health plan, and private rates apply to cover these costs and any follow-up visits.
Initial private consultations may be done virtually, but an in-person assessment is required to evaluate candidacy for surgery. To be eligible, patients must be in good general health, have low body mass index (below 35 kg/m2), are not required to take any blood thinners (such as Aspirin® (acetylsalicylic acid), Plavix® (clopidogrel), Eliquis® (apixaban), etc.) and be available to remain in Vancouver for recovery after surgery and attend routine follow-up visits. If any unforeseen issues arise, you must be available to return to see Dr. Ratanshi to provide continuity of care. Additional fees may be applicable for these visits.
A private fee of $200 + GST would be applicable for an initial consultation. Additional visits may be billed separately. A referral is not required, but records of any specialist visits and investigations, such recent bloodwork, ECG, mammogram, or nerve conduction study are helpful in your evaluation (where relevant).
Residents of Quebec travelling to British Columbia or temporarily living in British Columbia without a valid BC MSP number are considered uninsured. British Columbia physicians are not reimbursed by the Quebec Health Insurance Plan (RAMQ). As a result, private rates would apply to your care, including emergency or urgent services. Fees must be rendered directly by the patient to the physician’s office with any visit and prior to booking surgery. RAMQ may reimburse you part of these expenses, but not all.
Depending on the nature of your injury, you may preferentially choose to return to Quebec to receive your care.
